Passenger Vehicle Drum Brake Service

Price $175 Per Axle Time 2 Hours

Service Overview

Many passenger cars, SUVs, minivans, and passenger pickups still run rear drum brakes. They're durable but need periodic shoe replacement, hardware refresh and proper adjustment — a fading skill we still do right. This service covers passenger-vehicle drum brakes only — commercial air brake and heavy-duty diesel drum brake concerns are handled under our Diesel & Commercial services.

Service involves brake shoes, springs and hardware kit, wheel-cylinder inspection, drum measurement, and parking-brake adjustment.

Final price may vary by distance, vehicle, service details, after-hours requests, emergency availability, or service area minimums.

How location affects pricing

Your listed service price is based on the repair itself. Because we are a mobile service, final pricing may also depend on your distance from our service area, appointment time, urgency, vehicle details, and repair conditions.

  • Within 15 miles$125 minimum service total
  • 15–30 miles$150 minimum service total
  • 30+ milesContact for quote
  • After-hours+$75 when available
  • Emergency / priority+$150 when available

Minimum service totals are not added on top of larger services — they only apply when a fixed-price service is below the minimum for your location. Distance fees typically begin outside our standard 15-mile service area.

Pricing shown is our listed service price — parts and fluids are quoted at cost where applicable, and your exact flat quote is confirmed before any work begins.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do drum brakes still need service if they last so long?
Yes — springs fatigue, adjusters seize and cylinders weep with age even when shoes have life left.
Is my parking brake related?
On most drum-equipped vehicles the parking brake uses the same shoes — proper adjustment fixes a weak handbrake.
Can you convert drums to discs?
Conversions exist but rarely make economic sense; a properly serviced drum system stops reliably and costs far less.
