Timing Belt

Quote Vehicle-Specific Quote Time 4–6 Hours

Service Overview

The timing belt synchronizes pistons and valves. On 'interference' engines — most of them — a snapped belt slams valves into pistons and destroys the engine. Replacement on schedule is non-negotiable.

The job involves the timing belt, tensioner and idlers, usually the water pump (driven by the belt on many engines), front seals as needed, and precise cam/crank timing verification.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is this reviewed per job instead of flat-priced?
Timing belt access varies enormously between engines. We quote your specific engine — flat, in writing — before you book.
Why replace the water pump with it?
On most engines the pump sits behind the belt — its labor is free while we're in there, and a pump failure later means paying the whole job again.
Does my car have a belt or a chain?
Roughly half of modern engines use chains, which last much longer. Tell us your VIN or model and we'll confirm in minutes.
